Create one Material Comparison Matrix for one small architectural fragment.

Choose one fragment, for example reading pavilion wall, classroom facade bay, bus stop shelter, entrance canopy, small library window wall, tiny house wall base, roof edge or interior partition.

Draw a tiny sketch of the fragment so the comparison has a location.
- 03
Create a matrix with five rows: timber, brick, concrete, steel and glass.

Add the possible use for each material in your chosen fragment.

Add one strength for each material. Be specific, not just “strong”.

Add one weakness or failure risk for each material.
- 07
Add one maintenance note for each material.
- 08
Add one atmosphere note for each material.

Add one trade-off for each material.
- 10
Add a fit note, for example good inside, good at base, caution, weak fit or good with shading.

Finish with a short conclusion explaining which materials fit where.
